About this hymn

Thomas Chisholm wrote the words in 1923 from Lamentations 3, not after any great crisis but, as he put it, from 'the faithfulness of a covenant-keeping God' in an ordinary life. William Runyan set it the same year. The refrain is where the harmony opens up; learn the verse first, then the refrain.
