About this hymn

Isaac Watts wrote this in 1719 as a paraphrase of Psalm 98, about Christ's coming as King, not a Christmas carol at all. Lowell Mason's tune Antioch from 1836 borrows from Handel. The 'and heaven and nature sing' lines stagger the parts, so this one is best learned with your part loud and the others off at first.
