About this hymn
Charles Wesley wrote this in 1747, and it ends with one of the finest lines in English hymnody, 'lost in wonder, love, and praise.' John Zundel's tune Beecher from 1870 is the one most American churches sing. It sits low for sopranos and comfortable for everyone else.
