About this hymn
Fulbert of Chartres wrote the Latin original around the year 1000, an Easter hymn about the Lion of Judah breaking the serpent's power. Robert Campbell's English version dates from 1850 and the tune St. Fulbert from 1852. Bright and quick; learn the refrain 'Alleluia' first and the verses will follow.
